23 Grand Parade is an exclusive suite of serviced offices in Brighton which offers a quality environment reflecting the individuality and success of your business. In many ways 23 Grand Parade is the antidote to the soulless, generic spaces typical of most serviced office buildings. You’ll find no ‘serviced offices for rent’ sign outside, no grumpy receptionist that knows nothing about your business and no corridors lined with identikit office ‘units’.
Instead, 23 Grand Parade offers just seven offices refurbished to a high standard in a charming Grade 2 listed Georgian townhouse, each one with its own individual character. The building may be approaching 200 years old but that does not mean it is lacking in the features you’d expect from a modern office, including plentiful power and network ports and high-spec lighting. 23 Grand Parade – a Georgian town house used as an office for decades – was acquired by media entrepreneur Daryl Willcox in February 2007 and plans for refurbishment began immediately with the help of Camillin Denny Architects. The Grade 2 listed property sits within a conservation area. This meant complying with stringent requirements from local planners and conservation officers. This was a time consuming process and it wasn’t until January 2008 that the builders, Chalmers & Co, were able to make a start.
The building retains original features such as elegant doors and banisters. Most fireplaces remain, including a range cooker in the basement. Inappropriate additions to the building were removed or replaced. Modifications were designed in consultation with local officials. The result is a building steeped in understated Georgian style yet looks to the future with modern details like the imaginative lighting and cheeky custom-made sinks in the toilet areas. It’s the perfect environment for a dynamic and successful media business.
